WHAT EXACTLY DO YOU WANT?

"What do you want me to do for you?" Jesus asked. "My rabbi," the blind man said, "I want to see!" And Jesus said to him, "Go, for your faith has healed you." Instantly the man could see, and he followed Jesus down the road Mark 10:51-52

When you see a little child crying around the house then he/she definitely has a need and most time depending on the age of the child he can tell you what he/she needs. The case of my little niece some years back comes to mind she was between 2-3 then and whenever she is hungry, she start pulling my hand or the mother’s hand towards the kitchen or she can start mentioning all the food she knows. She will start by moving from one side to another “Mummy Eso(that is what she calls me)..and then she start the recitation of foods “rice and bread, indomie, yam, plantain….she can go on for a minute like that and then I will ask her “What exactly do you want to eat Eniola” It is impossible to eat all at the same time, most time we give her what is available and she will eat gladly. But now she is grown up and in a few seconds she will tell you exactly what she needs.

Some sisters do not know exactly what they want from God; they beat about the bush focusing on irrelevant things. The reason why some sisters are still single is that they don’t know what they want; they want a man like their friends spouses, they want a money bag, they want a title giver. Blind Bartimeus was not just shouting after Jesus, he was specific in his request when Jesus asked him what he wants. He got healed instantly when he told Jesus his need “I want to see” and instantly he started seeing and he followed Jesus. He didn’t run away after getting his miracle. My dear single sister, what do you want? Do you just want a husband or a life partner? Macho guy...No pimples...Father of your children? I have been there in the valley of asking for irrelevant things but for God’s mercy and grace that saved me from missing the real thing. Every single lady has a dream husband but is your dream in line with God’s word? Are you focusing on the irrelevant neglecting the most useful thing? Of what use is a macho man that beats you day and night? Or a money bag without the fear of God?

When I was waiting on God for a life partner several years back, the Lord told me to re-order my desire and to be specific in my prayers. I changed my prayer from the irrelevant to the relevant “Lord I want a man that fears you, if he fears you I am safe and secure, he will love me like you want him to, he will not take me out of you, he will allow me to shine for you” that was my first prayer point. The second was “Lord, I want a man that wants to make heaven and who will by fire by force drag me along...it simply means I want an eternity conscious man who will command his household to serve the Lord” and God answered my prayers and added extras to them. I will talk about the extras another time.

On the first day of the month that my husband located me, I received a visitor at home. I had met the brother a few weeks earlier. He identified me from one of our movies and the one I featured him, we got talking and we exchanged contact. I never he was interested in me and when he requested for a visit (I lived with my sister in law then) I granted him since it was a public holiday and everyone will be around. After entertaining him, he went straight to what brought him...”He wants for my hand in marriage” Immediately the Holy Spirit prompted me to ask about his family, I mean his own marriage. He was surprised and began to tell me that his wife just left him for another woman after they had two children together. He told me a pitiable story of how he married the wrong person and now willing to move on to start afresh with me. My heart sank within me...”Lord, is this what you have for me after all the promises” The brother began to promised how he won’t stop my ministry etc…I was waiting impatiently for him to leave. I saw him off and went back home, I couldn’t sleep all through the night “God this is not what I want Lord, how can I marry a used man, a married man…No this is not your will for my life” I spoke to a dear sister on phone the next morning about it and she didn’t even allow me to finish before she said “No!!! Sister Toyin this is not God’s will”

I packed my bag two days later and traveled down to see her, I told her I have come for a retreat, her husband was not in the country at that time so I stayed in door for five days and we were praying together. On the second night or third I had a dream and in the dream I was given a wedding gown to wear. Immediately I wore it I realized it was cream colour, used one, all the accessories are gone and I was like this is an old gown and I can’t wear this. The people around asked me “What do you want” and I replied I need a new wedding gown that has never be worn and so one of them directed to go forward and I saw a big shopping complex with wedding shops in three different places. I moved ahead of me to the shop just in front and I hug a beautiful wedding gown unused, still packed in bag and then my friend(married) came in to ask me to choose for my chief brides maid. Immediately I woke up I understood the dream and praised God for my original miracle and later that month, my husband showed up. 

If you don’t know what you want you will settle for just anything. To know what you want you need to see with the eyes of God because sometimes He might be presenting a raw gold covered with dust or the devil might bring a beautifully wrapped gift full of poison. As you wait for that man ask yourself again “What do you want? Do you just want a title or you want a man that fears God? Do you want to complement that man of God so that you both will fulfill purpose? Re order your want and let God give you what you need. He knows you more than you know yourself. God’s will still exist. May the Lord open your eyes to see the way he sees?

My 7th wedding anniversary will be coming up in a few weeks, I am trusting God to give 70 divine marriages to beloved daughters of God on this forum who are overdue for marriage.
